FOREIGN Minister Kevin Rudd hit out at G8 nations for failing to back the establishment of a flight-exclusion zone over Libya.Mr Rudd has been a vocal advocate for a no-flight zone and his activism has drawn criticism for being out of step with official Australian policy. The Prime Minister has maintained Australia wants the UN to "consider" a flight-exclusion zone but stopped short of demanding it be adopted. But Mr Rudd said yesterday the international community should support calls by Arab League nations to stop the Gaddafi regime using its air force.Mr Rudd told ABC TV he was disappointed by the G8 decision and so was the government."Our view is that the Security Council should respond positively to the call made by the Arab League. This is important stuff for the people on the ground in Libya."
